Students enrolled for the following year can take advantage of Parkridge Montessori School’s year-round Montessori program and summer camp. The nine-week summer session is held Monday through Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Kids will love their hands-on Montessori education and summertime activities like weekly crafts, science projects, painting, music sprinkler days, and much more. Children not currently enrolled in a Montessori school during the academic year are also welcome to attend summer camp. Children in the classroom range from 3 to 6 years old, including those in kindergarten and primary school.
We provide a nine-week summer program in the summer. Enrolling in the summer program is highly recommended for all new students as it offers an excellent foundation for the fall semester.
The summer program provides a balance of academic enrichment, reading, writing, fine arts, cultural studies, and outdoor activities. Since the kids are on vacation and having fun is essential, we will continue with the basic Montessori curriculum’s language, numeracy, and sensory elements.
The program study units are as follows:
Week 1: Wacky & Weird World of Science Through interesting experiments and enjoyable learning experiences, this program will foster an appreciation for science. Every day, we will thoroughly enjoy ourselves with a straightforward, safe science experiment. Everyday themes include plants, animals, light, sound, motion, and a special exhibit, “Through the eye of a microscope, ” which lasts the entire week. A grasshopper’s wing will appear like a masterpiece of stained glass under a large microscope.
Week 2: World of Butterflies Nothing compares to the grace of a butterfly in flight! Through projects, an interactive transformation exercise, and stories, we will learn everything there is to know about this stunning insect. Naturally, a visit to our butterfly vivarium, where dozens of live butterflies will help us celebrate everything we’ve learned, is a must-do for the day.
Week 3: Color My World Play with the hues of the environment while we study rainbows, gradients, and primary and secondary colors! Among the books in our collection are Brown Bear, Brown Bear, and Mouse Paint. We’ll work on a variety of arts and activities that enhance visual-motor coordination. Young artists will use paint, markers, beads, buttons, and glue to create their own mementos. Tissue paper and scissors.
Week 4: America’s Birthday (4 Th of July) Let us honor the USA. We’re going to have a great week. Employing the patriotic red, white, and blue colors. We’ll play games, create a lot of American crafts, and discuss the tales. Our culinary endeavor will also feature three hues. Don’t pass up this fantastic opportunity to learn fascinating information about our amazing nation, America.
Week 5: Luau Day (Hawaiian Culture) On a luau day, introduce kids to Hawaii’s culture. This theme works great for summer since it includes all the fun outside activities, like playing in the sand, creating crafts in the style of a luau, enjoying music, and indulging in tropical cuisine that perfectly embodies the vibrant and carefree vibe of a luau.
Week 6: Cooking Experience (Explore to Cook) Kids who make their own lunch and dessert every day will chop, cook, and whip their way through the week. In addition to cooking spaghetti, pizza, and cookies, we’ll also be creating milkshakes and lemonade.
Week 7: African Safari We’re going on an African safari to discover this area’s incredible creatures, from the massive African elephant to the watering hole’s weaverbirds. The animals in Africa are truly unique! As we explore our Africa exhibit, we’ll pay closer attention to the lion, elephant, rhino, kudu, and other animals to find parallels and distinctions. We’ll contrast ecosystems, body forms, horns, furs, and hides. We will also get to see the interactive version of the West African tale Zone the Rabbit! How about their diet? These are a handful of the inquiries we shall pursue while exploring this varied territory.
Week 8: Under the Sea As we build our own imaginative worlds as pirates and mermaids and discover actual facts about the ocean’s ecology and creatures, the Under the Sea Camp combines science and imagination in equal measure. All week long, children are sure to have an abundance of fun. This camp fosters learning, artistic expression, and mobility.
Week 9: Lego Land Using a ton of Legos, the kids use their imagination and creativity to create original designs. It fosters creativity and invention, which in turn helps students work together with their peers. A plethora of Lego blocks await your imagination, ready to be assembled into cities, parks, spaceships, or anything else you can dream up. Daily guided activities and unstructured play offer endless entertainment and opportunities for discovery, research, and education. There will be a splash day every other Friday. Kids will love the kiddie pool, sprinkler fun, and much more. There will be games played outside in addition to this nonstop excitement and fun.

- Please keep in mind that all program costs for the summer are non-refundable and must be paid at the start of each month. We don’t prorate or reimburse tuition for days that are missed.
Please Bring:
A packed lunch, two extra clothing changes, and an additional pair of shoes. Make sure to label everything you own. Not even home toys. Please include a note in their lunchbox if something needs to be refrigerated or heated. Get messy sometimes, so please wear appropriate clothing.
